Best Practices for At-Home Student Technology Use
Review Section J of our School Board Policies to find specific guidelines and rules around student computer use at MSAD 75. Below is a list of best practices that families can implement in their homes to prompt healthy relationships with technology.
- Ensure your student understands that their device belongs to the school district, and that it is a tool to be used for academic learning purposes. Any activity performed on a school-owned device can be reviewed by district administration and school-based administration at any time.
- Talk to your student about how they should report issues dealing with disturbing or uncomfortable content like threats, cyber-bullying, and violence while online.
- Encourage your student to take physical breaks from technology use as needed. Have them stand up, stretch, and relax their eyes by looking at a faraway object.
- Ensure your student understands how to care for their device in the best way possible. Keep the device in its provided protective case when not in use.
- Agree on the time when all electronic devices should be turned off to prepare for sleep. If needed, enable GoGuardian parent settings on the device.
